What Do You Really Know About a Carpet and Floor Cleaner?

Picture
One thing is for sure ... there are a LOT of so-called professional service providers in every industry. The word “professional” is one of the most loosely thrown around words in the world. One can get a set of tools, a truck and a few lessons from Uncle Chuck and Presto! he’s a professional.

Unfortunately this is also true of the carpet and floor cleaning field. There are thousands of independent “cleaners” across America. The 0ver-whelming majority are self-taught and have never darkened the door of a training or certification class. They simply purchased a used carpet extractor, picked up a few cleaning chemicals at a local janitorial supply store, practiced on their own house, and then started marketing to unsuspecting consumers. Their mentality is simply this: “Hey, it’s carpet cleaning! What’s the big deal?”

But seriously, who would you really want in your home cleaning your fine carpets, rugs, and upholstery?

There are five factors that come into play when considering a professional carpet and floor cleaner.
  1. Reputation - Does the company have a good reputation with its client base? Do current and past customer say glowing things about the company and the service they provide? Do they show up in a clean, lettered van? Are the technicians uniformed and clean-cut or are they wearing faded jeans and a t-shirt?
  2. Education - There are LOTS of professional training and certification schools for the carpet cleaning industry. Most cleaners stay far away from them. Every customer should ask a potential cleaner, “Are you certified by the IICRC (the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification)?” At Kleaneasy we are certified in floor cleaning by the IICRC and have taken additional courses throughout the industry. We are educated in every aspect of carpet, rugs, tile, and upholstery cleaning. We are trained in recognizing all types of carpet fibers and the best and safest ways to clean them. We are educated in the hundreds of different types of cleaning solutions to include pre-treatments, spotters, extraction detergents, low-moisture products, rinsing agents, and carpet and fiber protectors. Ask the technician at your door, “What is a surfactant?” If he can’t answer, tell him “thanks but no thanks.” We are not only trained but we also STILL attend refresher courses and study the industry’s trade publications.
  3. Experience - It is never a good idea to hire someone new to the industry (a newby) to clean your carpets and floors. Newbies should never go it alone. There is simply too much risk of doing more harm than good in a customer’s home or business. They should seek out mentorship and training from experienced and certified cleaners in the industry. Kleaneasy began as an idea in 1983 when our owner, Tony Guthrie, was being mentored and trained by a seasoned cleaner. Since the 1980s Tony has served in the carpet and floor cleaning industry. Kleaneasy has decades of experience and there isn’t a cleaning situation we are unfamiliar with.
  4. Systems - Successful businesses utilize organizational, financial, technical, and procedural systems in order to provide customers with the best service possible. There is a system to everything we do at Kleaneasy. This means that we don’t “wing it.” Our mission is to provide our customers and clients with the most outstanding service experience ever. In order to accomplish the mission we have systems in place in every area of our company. Every customer receives the same, exact service from the way we answer the phone, to the way we enter and clean the home, to the way we follow-up and keep in touch.
  5. Guarantee - At Kleaneasy we guarantee that you will be pleased with our service. If for any reason you are not, we will rush back out and reclean the area of concern. If you are still not satisfied we will happily refund your money.
