Have you ever thought about the good feeling you get when things just seemed to be as they should be. I love feeling good and I imagine you do as well. But what makes for that "good feeling?" I suppose it depends on the individual as I am sure we each feel good about different things. Perhaps you can relate to some of these.
The Good Feeling of Good Health
When I feel good physically and my health is good it just makes for an all around "good feeling" day. We all want good health. In order to maintain a level of good health I try to do what my doctor tells me. It is the same advice all doctors give:
- eat healthy (avoid the "junk" food")
- get plenty of exercise
- supplement meals with high-quality vitamins
These tips can't keep us perfectly healthy all the time BUT "feeling good" is more likely when we follow them. Although I do not really enjoy working out every other day, I have to acknowledge that my doctor is right. I stay trim amd my overall health is good enough that I can carry out the physical demands of cleaning carpet and tile. I also avoid junk food and try to maintain healthier eating habits ... although I do have my occasional moment of weakness :-) .
Following this plan does make me feel good most of the time.
The Good Feeling of Good Relationships
Here is something that I assume you already know. The special and significant people in our lives can add to that "good feeling" we all desire. I am especially blessed with a great lady in my life. She just happens to be my wife and I adore her. Waking up each day knowing that she is with me, loves me, and supports me keeps me feeling good.
I also have children that I have a great relationship with. I get to see them focus on their goals (they are each young adults now) and they want my insights, opinions, and help. The fact that they need me and depend on me makes me feel great!
I also have some good friends and a wonderful church family full of people who I love and admire. They bring a special feeling of joy to my life and I am thankful for each one of them.
Think about it. Aren't you surrounded by some wonderful people who bring that "good feeling" to you?
That Good Feeling of a Good Purpose
What is your purpose in life? Ever thought about it? I am sure you have. I have learned that the "good feelings" of life are often connected to our sense of purpose. What makes the world an interesting place is that even though there are billions of people alive today, no two are exactly alike. We each have our own desires and interests and within those interests lies the seeds of purpose.
I believe each of us should wake each day and prepare to carry out what we were purposed to do (born to do) with our lives. Maybe you are an author, a dedicated mom, a hopeful business owner, a dedicated employee, or are living out some other meaningful purpose. Whatever your purpose is, when you are engaged in it, that "good feeling" is always near.
I trust these thoughts have been meaningful to you.
